History of the Chief Justice Role The office of chief justice is not explicitly established in the U.S. Constitution. While Article I, Section 3, Clause 6 of the Constitution refers to a chief justice as presiding over Senate trials of presidential impeachment.  Article III, Section 1 of the Constitution, which establishes the Supreme Court itself, refers to all members of the Court simply as â€Å"judges.† The distinct titles of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States were created by the Judiciary Act of 1789. In 1866, Associate Justice Salmon P. Chase, who had been by to the Court by President Abraham Lincoln in 1864, convinced Congress to change the official title Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States to the current Chief Justice of the United States. Hamlets Insanity Essay Hamlets Insanity;#8230;is it real?In William Shakespeares Play Hamlet, many issues have been raised about Hamlets over all sanity. He has experienced many things that might make one think he has gone crazy, for example, his fathers murder, killing Polonius accidentally, and his mothers abrupt remarriage. Hamlet begins to act shady towards the middle to the end of the play while talking to others. In several scenes it appears that Hamlet has gone crazy. Many critics have varying opinions of this issue. Joshua Wells wrote an article that comparing Hamlets sanity and insanity. Another critic, that did not mention his name, thinks that Hamlet is sane. Hamlet was not actually insane, it was simply a ploy to seek revenge for his fathers murder.Wells, in his article Was Hamlet Mentally Disturbed?; stated that Hamlet is truly insane. In the first act Hamlet appears to be crazy when he hears of his fathers murder. He speaks irrationally to Horatio, who comments that Hamlet is speaking wild and whirling words;(I. v.149). Also, Hamlet plays with Horatio and will not tell him what the ghost told him. Horatio asks Hamlet about the news he heard and Hamlet replies O, wonderful!;(I. v.130). The news is actually not good news at all. Hamlet then sees the ghost in his mothers chambers, but she can not see it. This is strange because earlier in the play Horatio and the other watchmen could see the ghost. When Hamlet starts a conversation with the ghost, his mother says, Alas, hes mad!; (III.iv.122). Hamlet does some other actions throughout the play that give the impression that he has gone crazy. One is that his moods change abruptly for no reason. While he is talking to his mother in her chambers, they are speaking calming to each other and then Hamlet starts acting violently towards her. He also jumps on a pirate ship without a second thought or anyone to protect him. At the same time, he has Rosencrantz and Guildenstern killed, even though it was not part of his revenge plan. Finally, Hamlet hides Polonius body and will not tell anyone where it is. He tells Laertes that he killed Polonius in a fit of madness (Wells). There are many good reasons to believe that Hamlet is truly crazy. He acted rashly and many of his thoughts were random. He did not act as though he had just lost a loved one; he acted like the world had come to an end. Therefore, the people around him thought he had lost his mind. The flip side to this argument is that Hamlet was putting on an act. Some critics say that his actions were thought out and he acted insane as part of his revenge plot. One critic, that remained nameless, says that Hamlet remained sharp and credible; and Wells says that his madness only manifested itself while he was around certain characters such as Polonius, Claudius, Gertrude, Ophelia, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern. However, when he was around Horatio, Bernardo, Francisco, the Players and the gravediggers, he acted rationally. Hamlet makes several comments that appear random and to have no meaning, but in all actually, they make perfect sense. Hamlet makes a smart comment to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern comparing them to sponges. He says, When he (Claudius) needs what you have gleaned, it is but squeezing you and, sponge, you shall be dry again.;(IV.ii. 19-20). They do not understand what Hamlet has said, but Hamlet is saying that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern soak up all the Kings favors and become dry again when they have to clean up his mess. In the same act, Hamlet makes a rude comment to Claudius by commenting on how lowly a king can be. This proves that Hamlet had planned for this(Hamlets Sanity;). Wells notes that characters in the play suspect that Hamlet is not crazy. Claudius notes that Hamlet was not like madness. Theres something in his soul, /Oer which his melancholy sits on brood, /And I do doubt the hatch and the disclose/Will be some danger#8230;;(III. i.175-178). Claudius does not think that Hamlet is crazy, he thinks there is something inside of Hamlet that is bothering him. Polonius says that Hamlets actions have method; to them, there appears to be a reason to his actions and his actions are logical in nature (II. ii.226-227). Then Hamlet, himself, says two times that he is not crazy. He tells Horatio in Act one, scene five, that he is going to fake madness and that if Horatio notices any strange behavior, it is because he is putting on an act. Later in the play, in Act three, Hamlet tells his mother that his is not mad, but only in craft (Wells). The points made suggesting that Hamlet is not insane are justified just as well as the points made suggesting that Hamlet is crazy. He seems to be aware of the things that that he says and the things that he does. He simply acts crazy to fool the people around him to take his revenge for the wrongful death of his father. If Hamlet was crazy then why did he wait to kill Claudius and why does doubt what the ghost has told him? Hamlet wanted to know the truth before he avenged his fathers death. If Hamlet had acted rashly and killed Claudius immediately, Claudius might not have been the real murderer and Hamlet would be the one in prison. Hamlet creates an intricate plan to catch Claudius. He could not have done this if he was insane. Several critics agree with what is written above. The points are valid and make sense. A man that did what Hamlet did to seek revenge could not have done it if he was not mentally healthy.

All of the success was coming from free market economies. After the death of President Roosevelt, a conservative control of Congress took place and try to turn the policies into Libertarian policies by rejecting numerous Keynesian initiatives, dropped many price controls, and instead cut taxes sharply. These libertarian policies are believed to have been stimulated the economy and created near full employment. During the whole period, especially Hayek was against Keynes at some points. He and a group occurred from other journalists and intellectuals had planned to displace Keynesianism and other collectivist influences. Hayek complained about economists to refuse to allow his work to be questioned after his death, it almost became a tabu. According to Friedrich von Hayek, the development of welfare socialism after World War II undermined freedom and would lead western democracies inexorably to some form of state-run serfdom so that socialism was also affecting Europe negatively. For the institutions Bretton Woods system was used after WWII until 1970s. The Bretton Woods system was historys first example of a fully negotiated monetary order. It is an international regime which was designed to combine binding legal obligations with multilateral decision-making, which is conducted through an international organization, like the IMF, endowing money with some limited supranational authority. In 1971, The Bretton Woods system collapsed due to President Richard Nixon’s severed the link between the dollar and gold. Another policy which is used after WWII was Military Keynesianism, which sighted to devote a large amount of money spending to the military to increase the economical growth of the countries.

Not every child with autism will have a language problem. A childs ability to communicate will vary, depending upon his or her intellectual and social development. Some children with autism may be unable to speak while others may have rich vocabularies and be able to talk about specific subjects in great detail. Most children with autism have little or no problem pronouncing words. The History of Mexican-Americans Explored Through Film The hardships that Mexican-Americans have faced started well before Reies Lopez Tijierina and Corky Gonzalaz led the Chicano movement in the sixties, and well before the Coronado Bridge was built in San Diego. It started with the Treaty of Guadeloupe Hilago. The treaty signed in 1848 by the United States and Mexico established new boarders between the two countries. This treaty forever changed the lives of Mexicans then and still today. When the United States gained control of the land in the Southwest all the Mexicans that had been living there became citizens of the U.S. The land that had once been theirs, the land that they had grown up on the their great grandparents had grown up on was now being taken by the U.S. government. Felix Gutierrez, a fourth generation Californian, sums up the feelings of Mexican-Americans best when he said, "My great grandfather didn’t cross the boarder, the boarder crossed him." (interview with Jorge Quiroga) Around the time that the Cold War started to heat up Reies Lopez Tijerina started to fight back for the land of Tierra Amarilla. It was once land that had once belonged to Amarlla, and had sold for 200 dollars and some horses, and Tijierina said it was time to take it back. The film Chicano! shows that with this one defining act Tijerina spearheaded the Chicano movement. The word Chicano which means "poorest of the poor" spread like wild fire throughout the Mexican-American community in the Southwest. Chicanos saw what Dr. Martin Luther King was doing for the African Americans and they realized that they were also victims of labor, education and even military discrimination. Tijierina’s argument and desire for change had been ba... ... Chicano! takes an in depth and vivid look at the Chicano movement led by Tijerina and Corky and how the two of those men have instilled an everlasting fight for equal rights in the Mexican-American community. These murals are the testimony for the Mexican-American’s struggle for equal rights in the United States. In reading Zack’s paper, he makes a good point that in the school systems students never really learn about this part of our history. I agree and also think that if students had learned this, the Chicano movement would benefit. Parker also makes a good point that projects like Chicano Park are very good for the Mexican communities. I feel that public places that represents a people’s history and struggle, help brings that community together and stronger.

Pakistan has failed to establish a political stability due to constitutional conflict, the most important reason for political instability is our economy. We have high inflation, large income inequality, deficit financing and a chronic lack of the national political parties should embrace a new spirit of cooperation and constructive opposition, expenditure for infrastructure and education. moving beyond outdated confrontational and self-defeating street action and walk-outs and boycott politics to engage in vigorous political debates free of violence Political instability lowers private investment, slows economic growth, and gives rise to unemployment and poverty. Political instability breeds corruption, mis-governance, shortens policy-makers’ horizon, inconsistency in policies, and creates volatility in economic performance. Pakistan is witnessing a prolonged period of political instability (almost five years) and. as such its adverse consequences for the economy are quite visible. It is strange that the current government, claiming to have a strong majority in the parliament, failed to generate political stability in the country. People within and outside the country had a lot of expectations about political stability, Political instability is associated with greater uncertainty regarding future economic policy, it certainly affects investment adversely, slows economic growth, increases unemployment and poverty, which in turn, further fuels political instability by giving rise to violence, civil unrest, and strikes. Pakistan failed to establish a stable democratic government due to constitutional conflict. Due to political instability, Pakistan’s economic and social growth has been curtailed. Our country is facing struggle and instability from the very dawn there is a lot of the problems in Pakistani politics that is the fact majority of any political party continued coalition politics which is responsible for the instability. It seems, the political stability in Pakistan is turning to be a dream unaccomplished for the country’s first ever government that was expected to complete its full tenure is too in crisis. It may not be wrong to say that judiciary is gaining its due status . Instead of providing help and justice to the people or to improve the conditions of Pakistan our politicians are busy in finding legs to stand upon their lies as truth. Political instability is a situation when the uncertainty among the government structure expand due to some basic causes and it eventually end up the current government1.We all know when a ruling party faces this sort of uncertainty so they do not do well for the public. They become unable to make polices for the development of the country. EFFECTS OF INSTABILITY There are many reasons behind political instability in Pakistan. no one leader sincere with Pakistan and Pakistani nation. They have their own interest and aims. Parties who are famous in Pakistani politics are not handle people issues as they are expected. They are not taking as well as foreign issues in the interest of nations. Political instability has played havoc with the safety and security of Pakistan. This is the cause of our failures in recent times. Our country is facing numerous challenges to its existence. But instead of unity, our political parties are playing dirty games against one another. A tug of war is going on among Pakistan Parties, These parties are least bothered about the security situation of Pakistan. Their vision is just to secure the supreme office for next five years; unfortunately, we do not see any concrete plan of action from our political leaders to counter these threats to the national security. Lack of political seriousness made this issue complex a nd complicated. It is the responsibility of the government and other political parties to sit together and come up with a comprehensive plan to resolve the issues in Pakistan. If they settle their issues and try not to exert pressure on one another, then there will be no violence, kidnapping or target killing in country. Therefore, political parties must cooperate with one another and work for the stability of country Political forces play a significant role in the formation of government. These actors largely bear the responsibility to maintain political stability in the country, but some times, bypassing the national interest of the country, they become an instrument to create not only mess and political instability, but also lead towards several other major issues. Our political parties are responsible for this situation as the leadership is not whole-heartedly sincere to resolving the issues; instead, its only seems playing politics of blame-game merely for their own interest, as if the world de pended on it. Pakistan’s experience is evident that quality and stability of political System, and leadership is not possible without quality education . The weak organization and improper working of political parties paves the way for coalition governments, which has become a very common set for every government and they exert their whole energy for maintaining the coalition set up and remain in continuous pressure from partner groups. The present political trend in Pakistan is forming coalitions amongst different political parties, which is the reason of current instable conditions. The unjustified acts and emotion provoking acts of the leaders made people question their identity and legitimacy again after the independence Achieving stability will require building a combination of forces in the social, political and state spheres that can seriously address the challenges that confront Pakistan. Political stability plays an important role in keeping society integrated and in maintaining legitimacy within the state. It is a prerequisite for the economic development, social integration, and supremacy of law in a state. Unfortunately, Islamic Republic of Pakistan stands on the top of those countries where social injustice prevails at every level of the society. Citizens of Pakistan are unaware of social justice concept and its effects on society. Pakistan’s civil and military rulers and elite class have been plundering this country since independence CONCLUSION There are so many problems in Pakistan. There is only one thing that can help Pakistan in solving all the problems that is the self-improvement of each and every Pakistani. All of us should be patriotic, honest, and hardworking. Everyone should respect the laws of country and obey the laws. Only then we can change our Pakistan’s condition. Civil Liberties Is Marriage a Right

Is marriage a civil right? Federal civil rights law in the U.S. stems from the Supreme Courts interpretation of the Constitution. Using this standard, marriage has long been established as a fundamental right of all Americans. What the Constitution Says   Marriage equality activists argue that the ability for all adults in the U.S. to wed is absolutely a civil right. The operative constitutional text is Section 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was ratified in 1868. This excerpt states: No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the  equal protection  of the laws. The U.S. Supreme Court first applied this standard to marriage in Loving v. Virginia in  1967 when it struck down a Virginia law banning interracial marriage. Chief Justice Earl Warren wrote for the majority: The freedom to marry has long been recognized as one of the vital personal rights essential to the orderly pursuit of happiness by free men ...To deny this fundamental freedom on so unsupportable a basis as the racial classifications embodied in these statutes, classifications so directly subversive of the principle of equality at the heart of the Fourteenth Amendment, is surely to deprive all the States citizens of liberty without due process of law. The Fourteenth Amendment requires that the freedom of choice to marry not be restricted by invidious racial discriminations. Under our Constitution, the freedom to marry, or not marry, a person of another race resides with the individual and cannot be infringed by the State. The Fourteenth Amendment and Same-Sex Marriages   The U.S. Treasury and the  Internal Revenue Service announced in 2013 that all legal same-sex married couples would be entitled to and subject to the same tax rules applied to heterosexual couples. The U.S. Supreme Court followed this with a 2015 ruling that all states must recognize same-sex unions and none may prohibit same-sex couples from marrying. This effectively made same-sex marriage a right under federal law. The court did not overturn  the foundational premise that marriage is a civil right. Lower courts, even when relying on disparate state-level constitutional language, have acknowledged the right to marry. Legal arguments for excluding same-sex unions from the definition of marriage have asserted that states have a compelling interest in restricting such unions. That interest, in turn, justifies limiting the right to marriage. This argument was once used to justify restrictions on interracial marriage as well. The case has also been made that laws permitting civil unions provide a substantially equivalent standard to marriage that satisfies equal protection standards. In spite of this history, some states have resisted the federal edict concerning marriage equality. Alabama famously dug in its heels, and a federal judge had to strike down Floridas same-sex marriage prohibition in 2016. Texas has proposed a series of religious liberty bills, including its Pastor Protection Act,  in an effort to skirt federal law. This would effectively allow individuals to refuse to marry same-sex couples if doing so flies in the face of their faith.
